+John Rakestraw interviewed me on the Panda update and its impact on writers. John has a very relaxed style of interviewing which is always enjoyable and his way of putting subjects at ease is something I am a great fan of. Great insights and, as always, John’s site has resources writers truly need. Check it out: http://goo.gl/8UDxQ

Writers, we are content creators, it is what we do best! Google Panda has given us a golden ticket here… all we have to do is create.

Feeling lost with the new Google Panda updates?

Have you lost a huge amount of your web traffic?

Well, I have called in the cavalry… I have David Amerland here to help; he’ll give you the roadmap to send you in the right direction towards getting back on the first page and getting your numbers up.

Here are some quick thoughts:

  • The Panda update was designed to improve search results and fight spam.
  • Google has taken all the things we know about SEO keywords, meta tags, great headlines, and content and slightly watered them down and interlinked them a little bit more to socialize them.
  • Google searches now look at the social media elements on the web page
  • What Google did before in their searches was put the SEO elements in separate boxes,  like keywords, content, the length of content, meta tags, looking at how often it was updated… you get the idea. Now, it looks at your web page as a whole. Your setup of the page needs to be as natural as possible. We need to write the way we talk. Your content needs to be helpful, have value and be supported by social media.
  • You can look at it this way… where keywords, meta tags and content were king, now, it’s social media and valuable, relevant  content that rules.
You need to give your end users good, engaging, valuable content they can share through the many different social media outlets: Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and many others.
