The birth of social media into a multifaceted engine for social change is already happening, even though many critics have stayed steadfast to the idea that Google+, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube are nothing more than a fad, where the only useful exchange would be mere trivia. These critics need only look towards this week in Boston and the rest of the world where social media has been a lifeline and a tool towards true engagement.
